New Observation Deck Coming to STRAT Hotel

The famous Stratosphere Hotel on the Las Vegas strip has recently gone through a name change, and now they are starting to unveil some of their new features. The Stratosphere has been renamed The STRAT Hotel, Casino and Skypod, and they just recently debuted a new observation deck that overlooks the city of Las Vegas.

Golden Entertainment recently purchased the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino, and they have committed to a $140 million renovation project. The plan is to rejuvenate the once iconic and popular venue while also improving the North end of the Las Vegas strip. The new observation deck is just the first step in a long line of renovations and improvements that are set to be completed by 2021.

The Stratosphere Hotel and Casino has always had an observation deck, but there haven’t been many upgrades or improvements made to it since it was built. The Golden Entertainment group quickly put a plan together to create a new “Skypod” that would attract both residents of Las Vegas, and be one of the top tourist attractions.

The observation deck is located on the 108th and 109th floors of the hotel and offers a 360-degree view of the city of Las Vegas. The deck is more than 1,000 feet off of the ground, and now features a new restaurant and bar called 108 Eats and 108 Drinks by James Trees. There is now more to do in the Skypod other than just get a quick look at the iconic and beautiful city.

Views And Rides

Guests wanting to travel up to the Skypod will all be transported to the indoor observation deck on the 108th floor. The entire 108th floor of the Skypod will have windows extending from the floor to the ceiling, giving guests the ability to have a 360-degree view of the iconic city.

The 108th floor features the SkyJump, which is a thrill ride that is very popular in the city. The SkyJump is a controlled jump from 855 feet off of the ground and is available by purchasing tickets. Guests can also visit 108 Eats by James Trees, grab a drink at 108 Drinks or get some novelty food items such as ice cream and other desserts.

Going Up

After visiting the 108th floor, guests can then make their way to the 109th floor via outdoor stairs that lead to an open-air skydeck. The 109th floor once again offers a 360-degree view of the Las Vegas strip, but without the windows. There are mounted binoculars located all around the perimeter of the observation deck for guests to get an even better look. The most daring guests can also buy a ticket to “Insanity,” and “X-Scream,” which are two of the thrill rides located at the SkyPod.

Both of the levels of the new SkyPod are available to rent for private events and can hold up to 1,000 people. Private events can choose to rent out the entire floor or just a portion of the floor. Private events have the ability to offer their guests unlimited rides to the three thrill rides at the SkyPod.

STRAT’s food and beverage service can provide catering for private events, or you can choose to utilize 108 Eats and 108 Drinks. Private event rentals are available anytime during the day or night.

The STRAT, Casino and Skydeck also recently opened a new Welcome to Las Vegas Gift Shop. Marshall Retail Group is the one in charge of running the gift shop that will provide popular gifts and souvenirs for both locals and tourists. The Welcome to Las Vegas Gift Shop is located right next to the William Hill Sportsbook on the casino floor.
