2021 Masters Odds: Johnson, Spieth Favored to Win

The best golfers on the PGA Tour will compete this week at the 2021 Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia to see who will be the next recipient of the legendary green jacket.

The 2020 Masters were delayed until last November because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but things are back on track this year. The 2021 Masters are set to begin on Thursday, April 8 and conclude on Sunday, April 11.

Dustin Johnson won the delayed 2020 Masters Tournament, winning the event by five strokes. He’ll look to become the first golfer to win back-to-back Masters Tournaments since Tiger Woods did it back in 2001 and 2002. Entering the tournament, BetOnline has given Johnson the top odds to win the 2021 Masters.

His odds of winning sit at +900.

Jordan Spieth, who won the tournament in 2005, has the second-best odds of winning at +1000. He’s coming off of a win at the Valero Texas Open last week. Other notable names include Justin Thomas (+1100), Rory McIlroy (+1800) and Xander Schauffele (+2500).

Can Dustin Johnson Win Back-to-Back Masters Tournaments?

At +900, there’s a lot of pressure riding on Dustin Johnson to win the 2021 Masters Tournament. He’s been one of the best golfers on the planet for years now and won the previous instalment of the event just five months ago. If Johnson manages to pull off the back-to-back accomplishment, his performance could go down in the PGA history books forever.

However, Johnson is also being pressured to perform well in general at the 2021 Masters. After winning the 2020 edition of the tournament, he’s been on a little bit of a losing skid. Johnson has finished in 28th or worse in the three events since his Masters win. While he may be the favorite, Johnson could be a risky pick with how he’s been playing.

Spieth Has Next Best Odds of Winning

A few weeks ago, it may have seemed like a long shot that Jordan Spieth (+1000) would be in talks to win the 2021 Masters. However, the 2015 event winner received a boost after winning the Valero Texas Open over the weekend.

Spieth now has six Top-10 finishes in his last seven events, indicating that the momentum he’s been building might pay off in Augusta this week. After finishing T-46th at the 2020 Masters, look for Spieth to be on a mission for his second green jacket in the coming days.

DeChambeau, Thomas Round Out Top 2021 Masters Odds

Bryson DeChambeau (+1100) has been one of the most-talked-about names in golf this season. Whether that was because of his performance or his physique, it seems like there’s always something about him in the news. He’s this season’s U.S. Open and Arnold Palmer Invitational winner, so DeChambeau has shown that he can perform at a high level. The only thing holding him back at the 2021 Masters Tournament is his past performances at the event, having never finished above 21st-place.

On the other hand, Justin Thomas (+1100) has the same odds to win as DeChambeau. He’s been playing well this season, accumulating nine Top-25 finishes in 11 events, including winning this year’s PLAYERS Championship.

Thomas has also improved his finish at each Masters tournament he’s competed in:

  • 2016: T-39th
  • 2017: T-22nd
  • 2018: T-17th
  • 2019: T-12th
  • 2020: 4th

With the way he’s been playing this PGA Tour, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Thomas have another impressive finish at the 2021 Masters.
