COVID-19 Affecting National Football League Schedule

It has taken less than four weeks as the National Football League is already dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak. The league expected this to occur after watching the same thing happen in Major League Baseball, but it has spun out of control quickly.

The Tennessee Titans and Pittsburgh Steelers game has been canceled this weekend, taking one betting option off the board. Pittsburgh was listed as a slight one-point favorite over Tennessee at FanDuel before the matchup was taken off the board.

On Saturday, Patriots quarterback Cam Newton revealed he had tested positive for COVID-19; a member of the Kansas City Chiefs tested positive as well. The positive tests forced the league to postpone the matchup between the Patriots and Chiefs to either Monday or Tuesday.

That game was also removed from the board at FanDuel, but the Chiefs were seven-point favorites over the Patriots on Saturday, ahead of a presumable reschedule. The point spread will likely be adjusted, as the Patriots will be turning to Brian Hoyer at quarterback.

The league is hopeful that this will be the only outbreak of the season, but sportsbooks will likely continue to make adjustments as more cases pop up.

Week 4 Betting Trends

FanDuel Sportsbook is one of the biggest names in the sports betting industry, and the operator has released the Week 4 betting trends from around the National Football League.

The New Orleans Saints are three-point favorites over the Detroit Lions on Sunday, but that game was temporarily removed from the board on Saturday morning. New Orleans had a player test positive for COVID-19, but the league has announced that the game will take place, and the odds are back up.

Arizona is a three-point road favorite over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. FanDuel reports that 90 percent of the spread bets are on the Cardinals to win on the road to move to 3-1 on the season.

The Baltimore Ravens are looking to bounce back as they take on the Washington Redskins in Week 4. Despite being a huge 14-point road favorite, 89 percent of the spread bets, and more than 94 percent of the moneyline bets are on Lamar Jackson and company.

Monday Night Football features the Green Bay Packers hosting the Atlanta Falcons, and FanDuel has set the over/under at 56.5 points. That is the highest total of all the Week 4 matchups, but it has not scared bettors away. Almost 90 percent of the money has been placed on the over, as bettors expect the two offenses to have a monster day.

Current Odds to Win Super Bowl

Now that every team in the NFL has played at least three games, bettors are starting to have a better idea of where teams stand. Sportsbooks have also used that information to adjust current odds to win the Super Bowl.

After the blowout win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3, the Kansas City Chiefs have emerged as the clear favorites to win the Super Bowl for the second straight season.

The Seattle Seahawks (+1100) have emerged as the cream of the crop in the NFC after three weeks, but that could always change as the season moves along. These odds will continue to be updated at the conclusion of each week.

Kansas City Chiefs: +400
Baltimore Ravens: +550
Seattle Seahawks: +1100
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: +1300
Green Bay Packers: +1500
