Gold Strike Casino Resort to Host The Isley Brothers

The Millennium Theatre, which is a part of MGM Resorts International venue called Gold Strike Casino Resort, will host the legendary Isley Brothers. The inductees of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are celebrating 60 years on stage — that is quite an accomplishment that no other band can be proud of at the moment! The name of their 60th Anniversary tour is You Make Me Wanna Shout, which is more than a suitable name as the band is known for their extraordinary live performances that people love singing and dancing to. If you haven’t had an opportunity to watch The Isley Brothers live, make sure to be at the Millenium Theatre on July 13 at 8 pm.

The first single that The Isley Brothers released ever was dubbed “Shout,” and it is a sort of the official beginning of their professional career, although they were on stage for a bit longer than that. “Shout” was released on September 21, 1959, and it instantly became a hit, topping the R&B charts back in the day. In fact “Shout” became so popular that it sold in a million copies.

After releasing “Shout,” the band then proceeded to release a song called “Twist & Shout” which soon became a planetary hit as even the Beatles themselves decided to cover the song. The band enjoyed decent popularity for almost a decade when they decided to release “It’s Your Thing” which once again topped the charts and made The Isley Brothers one of the most popular names back in the day. In fact, since then, they have remained at the top of the R&B scene. “It’s Your Thing” sold in more than five million copies, and the band earned numerous accolades for it, including the Best R&B Vocal Performance Grammy Award.

The band soon started releasing new songs and almost each one of them was a hit that topped R&B charts. Some of the names that we should mention here include “Fight The Power” which was released back in 1975, “Don’t Say Goodnight (It’s Time for Love)” from 1980, and more. In fact, for more than 50 years, the band was so dominant in the realm of black music that they managed to place a total of 50 singles on R&B charts between the year of 1969 and 1988. They also influenced numerous musicians, including some of the most popular R&B stars nowadays.

The band, therefore, had many No. 1 hits in their careers and released dozens of singles and albums. Furthermore, they had more than two singles and albums that went gold, platinum and multiplatinum. Needless to say, The Isley Brothers were awarded with countless awards, and one of the biggest accolades for them was the introduction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame which took place in 1992.

There were originally four Isley brothers — Vernon Isley, Ronald Isley, O’Kelly Isley Jr., and Rudolph Isley. Vernon soon died, leaving Ronald, O’Kelley, and Rudolph to perform as a vocal trio. Other family members such as Ernie Isley and Marvin Isley joined later on guitar and bass guitar.

Having a very long history, the band went through a lot of ups and downs. The only member who has remained in the band from the very beginnings is Ronald Isley aka Mr. Biggs. Ernie Isley is another living and performing member as well at the moment.

To sum up, if you happen to be in Mississippi on July 13, make sure to visit Gold Strike Casino Resort and enjoy one of the most important R&B bands perform live!
