Julio Jones News: Seahawks Emerge as Favorites to Land All-Pro Wideout

It wasn’t that long ago that the news broke that the Atlanta Falcons and five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Julio Jones could be parting ways this offseason. At first, the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans emerged as the frontrunners to land his services. However, things have changed. Now, BetOnline is favoring a scenario where Jones would end up on the Seattle Seahawks.

BetOnline has given the Seahawks +150 odds to land the talented wideout, however, it shouldn’t be surprising that they’re the new favorites. ESPN’s Dianna Russini reported over the weekend that Seattle has discussed a possible trade with Atlanta recently. She also added that Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and Jones have been having their own personal discussions as well.

At the end of the day, it’s hard to imagine a better fit for Julio Jones than in Seattle. For starters, he’d have one of the best quarterbacks in the league throwing him the ball. Wilson toppled 4,0000 passing yards for the second year in a row in 2020 and also hit the 40-touchdown mark for the first time. Jones would play with D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett — two of the best younger wideouts in the NFL today. A trio of Jones, Metcalf and Lockett would be one of the best wide receiving groups in the league and would help the Seahawks get closer to winning their first Super Bowl since 2014.

Titans, Patriots, Ravens Odds Worsen

The Tennessee Titans (+200), New England Patriots (+300) and Baltimore Ravens (+550) have all seen their odds to land Julio Jones worsen in the latest update. The biggest change happened to the Patriots, who were the -105 favorites on BetOnline less than a week ago and now have the third-best odds.

Despite the change, each of the three teams have better odds than a majority of the league. One thing that each team has in common is that they desperately need another high-end wide receiver. The Titans lost Corey Davis over the offseason and A.J. Brown is currently their only real pass-catching threat. Even as talented as he is, one player can’t take the Titans that far in the postseason.

Meanwhile, the Patriots are trying to rebound from their most disappointing season in quite some time. If they want to do that, they’ll need to give Cam Newton or Mac Jones a No. 1 wide receiver and there’s no doubt that Julio Jones would fit the bill. On the other hand, the Ravens had one of the worst passing game in the NFL last season, which means they’re due to add a player of Jones’ caliber if they want to remain as AFC threats.

Julio Jones Odds: Las Vegas Emerges as Potential Destination

Last week, the Las Vegas Raiders weren’t near the top of the odds list to acquire Julio Jones. However, they now have fifth-best odds (+900) to get a deal done. If the Raiders want to take it to the next level in their new city, it’d be a no-brainer to try and trade for Jones. The team’s best wideout last season was Nelson Agholor, who recorded 896 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns in 16 games. While those numbers are respectable, it’s important to note that Jones had 771 receiving yards and 3 TDs in just nine games last season. Taking that into consideration, it’s not hard to see just how much Jones could potentially boost Las Vegas’ offense.
