Michael Wang Wins Another PokerGO Stairways to Millions Title

Michael Wang didn't let his fans down as he won Event No. 5: $1,640 No-Limit Hold'em on September 12 and took home $22,986. Still, the player won the next tournament in the PokerGO Stairway to Millions at the Venetian, Las Vegas.

Wang won $22,458 after being the last remaining player at Event No. 6: $1,640 No-Limit Hold'em and received his third Stairway to Millions title. Yet, the poker pro had won $219,300 in January in a $15,800 buy-in tournament at the first Stairway to Millions at ARIA Resort and Casino.

He Set a New Record

The Stairway to Millions is a distinct series that awards prize money to various cashing players and tickets in different buy-in events. The second annual series started on September 8 at Venetian Las Vegas and will end on September 20.

Wang faced 72 opponents in Event No. 5, including Ryan Laplante, Victoria Livschitz, and Maria Konnikova. PokerGO live updates state that Laplante finished third with $9,340. Wang beat Mikael Andersen in heads-up action and sent him packing in second place.

Event No.6: $1,640 No-Limit Hold'em's Final Table Results

Wang had a deep run in Event No.6 as he faced 74 opponents. Players who advanced to the final table included Brett Kennedy, Kenny Huynh, and Stephen Song. Wang faced Freddy Heller in a heads-up match.

The latter had an almost 5:1 chip lead. But Wang regained the lead and ended Heller's run in second place. He earned the title and an Event No.8: $5,350 NLH seat.

The Hendon Mob shows that Wang's latest victory increased his poker earnings to $4.5 million. Besides, he is the first professional poker player to win three Stairway to Millions tournaments.

Wang is the third player to win two consecutive games in the PokerGO series after Chance Kornuth. The latter won Event No.3 and Event No. 2 in January at the first Stairway to Millions. Nick Petrangelo won that series' two last events.

Other Winners in the Series

The Stairway to Millions series began on September 8. Event No.1: $460 NLH had 93 entries who formed a $37,200 prize pool. Yet, Francis Anderson won a $1,640 ticket for either Event No.5 or Event No.6 and $6,702 after beating all his opponents.

Anderson earlier won $449,912 after finishing third in Event No.21: $1,500 Monster Stack No-Limit Hold'em at the 2022 WSOP. He narrowly missed the $6,417 first-place prize in Event No. 2: $460 NLH after losing to John Yelaney in a 94-entry field.

Arsh Grover finished third. He later won $12,510 in Event No.3: $900 NLH after beating 81 players. Samy Dighlawi won $11,330 in Event No. 4: $900 NLH after defeating 73 opponents.
