NBA Trade Odds: Will These Players Get Traded Before the Deadline?

The NBA trade deadline is exactly one month away on March 25 and rumors are starting to heat up as to who will end up where. Not all rumors will come into fruition, but some just may. Bovada has released odds as to which players may or may not be traded within a month.

Will Ben Simmons Be Traded Before Deadline?

  • No -5000
  • Yes +1000

At the start of the 2020-21 NBA Season, Ben Simmons’ name kept popping up in trade rumors. One of the reasons is because experts thought he may be a part of a deal that would’ve sent him to Houston in exchange for James Harden. With Harden in Brooklyn, that deal is over. So, will Simmons finish the season in Philadelphia?

Odds are he will. For starters, Simmons has been playing like one of the top defenders in the league this season. He’s even in Defensive Player of the Year conversations.

Secondly, the 76ers in first place in the Eastern Conference with a 21-11 record. Unless they get equal value back, they probably won’t trade him by the NBA trade deadline.

Lowry Could Leave Toronto by NBA Deadline

Will Kyle Lowry Be Traded Before Deadline?

  • No -200
  • Yes +150

After nine seasons with the Toronto Raptors, Kyle Lowry may move on from them by the NBA trade deadline. Right now, rumors are that the 76ers would be his preferred team since Lowry is from Philadelphia.

If the Raptors choose to rebuild, this move would make sense. However, after a 2-8 start to the season, the Raptors are now 16-17 and sit in fifth-place in an Eastern Conference that only has four teams with a .500 or better record. If Lowry believes the Raptors can win another NBA Championship, expect him to stay.

Griffin Should be Finished with Pistons

Will Blake Griffin Be Traded Before Deadline?

  • Yes -145
  • No +105

It’s no secret that Blake Griffin is more than likely leaving the Detroit Pistons before the trade deadline. Just a few weeks ago, the Pistons chose to sit Griffin until they could find a trade destination. That’s easier said than done. Griffin has a $36.8 million cap hit this season, followed by a $38.9 million player option for next season.

Whichever team acquires Griffin will have to match his salary this season and take into account how a potential player option could affect their plans in 2021-22. Griffin is averaging a 12.3/5.2/3.9 stat line this season, so his best days are behind him. But he can still be a valuable presence to a playoff team.

Can JJ Redick Help a Team Win an NBA Championship?

Odds via Bovada as of Thursday, February 25

Will JJ Redick Be Traded Before Deadline?

  • Yes -125
  • No -115

JJ Redick is an affordable veteran who could give a contending team some scoring help off the bench. Despite disappointing shooting splits in New Orleans this season (.379/.362/.950), Redick’s history should be enough for a team to take a shot at acquiring him. After all, he has the 14th-most made threes in NBA history (1,930).

A team like the 76ers, that lacks shooters coming off of the bench, could be a potential landing spot for Redick. In the 2018-19 NBA Season, Redick played 76 games (started 63) with the 76ers, in which he averaged a career-high 18.1 points per game.
