New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles Betting Preview

We have a Monday Night Football game from Lincoln Financial Field featuring a pair of NFC East teams, the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles. These long-time rivals will meet for the first time this season.

The last time they met was during the 2018 season when the Eagles knocked off the Giants 25-22. This game features two teams out of the NFC East that are both under .500 on the season. The Giants are the underdogs in this game, as the Philadelphia Eagles are nine-point favorites heading into this game.

Eagles Looking To Tie For Divisional Lead

Despite the Eagles’ struggles, with a win at home on Monday Night Football, they will move into a tie for first place in the division. The Eagles have the Giants in this game, and also in Week 17, with the Redskins and Cowboys sandwiched in between. The Eagles are coming into this game on a three-game losing streak. During those three games, the Eagles have been outscored 71-50 by the Patriots, Seahawks and Dolphins.

Carson Wentz has not had a banner season. The quarterback has thrown for nearly 2,850 yards on 271 completions, with 20 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Wentz was forced to throw the football 46 times last game and actually threw for three touchdowns, but this is following a two-interception game against the Seahawks.

The running game for Philadelphia has been up and down all season. The Eagles will be without their top rusher, Jordan Howard, who is out with a shoulder injury. The passing game is led by tight end Zach Ertz, with 70 receptions and three touchdowns.

Giants Losers Of Seven Straight

The New York Giants have dropped eight straight games and are closer to the top pick in the 2020 draft than they are to the playoffs. The Giants have not won since back-to-back games Sept. 29 and Oct. 6 over the Buccaneers and Redskins. New York is coming off a Dec. 1 loss at home to the Packers, which they scored just 13 points.

Saquon Barkley is the man for the Giants offense, but even his 2019 season has been down. Barkley has just two rushing touchdowns on the season. Barkley missed time following the game at Tampa Bay and has scored just one touchdown since his return.

The Giants will turn to future Hall of Famer Eli Manning, who will take over for rookie Daniel Jones, as Jones is out with an ankle injury. On the season, the rookie from Duke has thrown for more than 2,300 yards and 18 touchdowns, but 11 interceptions have hurt him.

Manning has not played since the Sept. 15 game against Buffalo. In that game, he threw for 250 yards and a touchdown, along with two interceptions. Manning will be 39 years old in January, and the former top overall pick appears to be heading to a new location or retirement following this season.

Giants Compete; Eagles Win

The New York Giants are going to compete in this game. Barkley would love to get back on track and hurt a divisional foe in their attempt to win the division. But, when push comes to shove, the Philadelphia Eagles are going to win this game. The Eagles are ready to get things started to tie the division and make the final three weeks of the season interesting.

The way to bet on this game is the New York Giants to cover the spread of +9, but the Philadelphia Eagles winning the game. If you are looking at a total bet for this game, taking the under would be the better choice with a 24-20 type game in Philadelphia.
