Online Gambler in Pennsylvania Hits Big Jackpot

Pennsylvania is the latest state in the US to offer online casino gaming. Having approved online gaming in late 2017, it was not until mid-2019 that the state saw the launch of online casino sites. Now, the US has iGaming in Nevada, New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania. Players in the Keystone State have taken to the new gaming option, especially to play the slots. Just before 2019 came to an end, one lucky player was able to snag a nice jackpot from the popular Divine Fortune slot game.

Six-Figure Win

Penn National Gaming is one operator in Pennsylvania that offers online gaming via their Hollywood Casino brand. One lucky player who remains anonymous was visiting the online gaming site when a six figure jackpot was earned. The player was spinning NetEnt’s Divine Fortune when the Mega Jackpot was activated.

Early on December 28th, the player played the game from an iPhone device. The decision was a smart one as the game resulted in a $285,385 win! The Divine Fortune slot game is a popular title, offering players a trip back to ancient times on 5-reels and 3-rows.

The title includes a progressive Mega Jackpot, along with a Major and Minor jackpot as well. The Minor jackot will pay 20x the bet while the Major pays 100x. For the Mega win, the jackpot was the largest provided by Hollywood since they launched online in July of last year.

Divine Fortune is the only game in Pennsylvania that provides a local progressive jackpot. Even though the slot was hit just a few days ago, players have already been spinning and the jackpot is now up to over $80,000 and will continue to increase until a lucky player hits the jackpot.

Apple User Option

Hollywood Casino has been quite successful in their online gaming launch, especially since they are the only site to offer an Android and iOS app. In Pennsylvania, HollywoodCasino.com is the only one to offer a native online casino app for Apple devices.

Online casino gaming was delayed in launching due to Apple deciding to change their policy and require a native app for online gaming. While many operators launched with just Android in mind to get the ball rolling, Penn National was busy working on an iOS app. Because they offer the Apple option, it gives them a leg up on the competition.

Without both apps, online casinos are only able to serve a smaller portion of players. In other states like New Jersey, having both options ensures that all players can take their gaming on the go, whenever they like. Because Hollywood Casino can offer players both options, they are going to have higher traffic numbers than sites that do not have the iOS option.

Online casino gaming has been well-received in Pennsylvania and this jackpot win will only help to secure even more players for the budding industry. Along with Pennsylvania, West Virginia has plans to launch online casino gaming in the future. As 2020 has just begun we look to WV to hopefully launch this year and other states are considering legalizing the option.

It will be interesting to watch as the New Year begins to see how well iGaming continues to perform in Pennsylvania and which other states get on board with online casino and poker gaming. Hopefully, this year will see even more players get in on the iGaming action.
