Pennsylvania Announces February Gaming Numbers

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has announced the February gaming numbers, and the online numbers were once again impressive. Pennsylvania is a state with nearly all forms of gaming available, and the online casinos continue to put up some huge numbers.

The total revenue generated from gaming last month in Pennsylvania was $499.1 million, and that’s a massive number. Not only does the state continue to rack up some tax revenue, but there was a growth of 9.25% when looking at the year-over-year numbers.

There were a number of different forms of gaming that showed some growth from the previous year, but online slots and online casino games had the biggest jump. Even though the online casinos continue to become more popular in Pennsylvania, the commercial casinos are doing well also.

Online Casinos are Thriving

The online casinos in Pennsylvania had a huge month in February as those sites brought in $184.9 million. Even though this February had an extra day compared to last year, that doesn’t fully explain just how much growth their was.

Online casino revenue was up over 40% from the previous year, and that number was actually a huge jump from January. January has a month that had more days, but the online casinos were able to generate much more interest last month.

Penn Entertainment was the top performer in the month of February, but that wasn’t the case to begin the year. Penn was able to bring in a total revenue of $77.3 million in February, and that was a huge response after a slow January.

While all forms of online casino gaming put up some solid numbers, it was online slots that once again led the way. The revenue from online slots was nearly $126 million in February, while the online table games brought in $56.6 million.

Valley Forge Casino Resort and Rivers Casino Philadelphia were the two online operators that finished in second and third place respectively. Those are two names that have had a ton of success up to this point.

Sports Betting Actually Drops

The online casino industry isn’t the only one that typically puts up big numbers in the state of Pennsylvania, as online sports betting is also profitable. Online sportsbooks did not have a good month in February, as the total sports betting handle dropped by 22.9% from January.

There was still some year-over-year growth experienced by the online sportsbooks in Pennsylvania, but the online casinos have been more popular. Online sportsbooks in PA have experience year-over-year growth in six straight months, and that could lead to some bigger numbers the rest of the year.

Even though there was still some great action that took place at online sportsbooks in Pennsylvania, the total revenue was way down. That’s really the number that the sportsbooks are the most interested in, and it wasn’t a good month for those operators.

FanDuel Sportsbook was the most profitable and popular online sportsbook in Pennsylvania and it is under the Valley Forge Casino license.
