Americas Cardroom Announces “The Cage”

Americas Cardroom Announces The CageAmericas Cardroom – one of the leading US-friendly online poker sites – is to host a high stakes “cash-game-come-tournament” event in October called The Cage.

For a couple of weeks there has been some speculation about a forthcoming promotion on Americas Cardroom called “The Cage”. A blog post published at the end of August on ACR´s website suggested something big was in the air, and the full details of the event have been officially released today.

The Cage promises to be a momentous occasion with huge amounts of money at stake and, due to a comprehensive satellite structure, players with limited bankrolls will be able to take part in the event and have the opportunity to win tens of thousands of dollars.

Mark October 8th in Your Diaries

The Cage will be a three-hour timed event hosted on Americas Cardroom on Wednesday October 8th at 8:00pm EST. It will have a buy-in of $5,000 and take the format of a multi-table 6-Max tournament, with players being given 5,000 starting chips at the beginning of the game.

Play will start with blinds of $10/$20 (ante $2) in hour one, rising to $25/$50 (ante $5) in hour two, and concluding with blinds of $50/$100 (ante $10) in hour three. There are no re-buys or re-entries allowed, so once a player is bust, he (or she) is out of the game.

The event ends after three hours, at which point the remaining players will be able to cash out their chips straight into their Americas Cardroom accounts. Every chip has a cash value of $1.00, so players that survive The Cage with double their starting stacks will have $10,000 immediately credited to their accounts.

Not Got the $5,000 Buy-In? Qualify for as Little as $1.50

Americas Cardroom has put together a qualifying schedule that will allow players with limited bankrolls to qualify for the event at a fraction of the full buy-in, in order to test out their adrenalin levels in The Cage against some high stakes powerhouses.

Each day a series of sub-qualifiers will be hosted on the site with buy-ins of $1.50 and $5.00, which culminate in a daily $30.00 buy-in tournament at 17:30pm (EST). The winner(s) of the $30.00 tournament go forward to a weekly satellite (played on Wednesdays at 19:30pm EST) which guarantees at least one seat in The Cage.

Players can buy into the qualifying schedule at any stage (the weekly satellite has a buy-in of $300.00), although it should be pointed out that seats won for The Cage won via the qualifying schedule are not transferable and have no cash value. If you win a seat in The Cage, so cannot un-register from the event.

You have to be “In It to Win It”

According Michael Harris – a spokesperson for Americas Cardroom – advance notice of The Cage has already drawn a favorable response from a number of legendary pro poker players – including some players in the online community with significant reputations.

Without giving any names away, Harris said
