Ignition Poker Hosting Black Diamond Special Event on Sunday

Black Diamond Poker Open at IgnitionAhead of its Black Diamond Poker Open series next month, Ignition Poker is hosting a BDPO special event this Sunday with a guaranteed prize pool of $108,000.

Visitors to Ignition Poker today will find a new section in the tournament lobby – BDPO. For the benefit of new players, BDPO stands for Black Diamond Poker Open – an annual tournament series packed full of valuable events that, this year, will run from March 1st to March 31st. Although the full schedule won´t be released until Monday, we already know it will consist of 130 tournaments, and that the highlight will be a $300,000 guaranteed Main Event on the final day of the series.

Prior to the start of the series, Ignition Poker is hosting a BDPO Special event this coming Sunday. The tournament is guaranteed for $108,000 and gets underway at 4:08pm ET (All this year´s events will get underway at eight minutes past the hour to celebrate the eighth running of the series). You can buy directly into the tournament for $162.00, or try to win your seat for a discounted price by playing in one of the MTT or Sit & Go satellites.

The Black Diamond Poker Open Special Event

The Black Diamond Poker Open Special event replaces Ignition Poker´s regular $100,000 guaranteed Sunday tournament, but has some subtle changes from the site´s feature event. First of all, players will start with 12,000 chips instead of 10,000 chips; and, because of the bigger chip stack, late registration has been extended from 14 Levels to 200 minutes – which falls towards the end of Level 17, by which time the blinds will have increased to 1,000/2,000 (ante 200).

Other than that, the betting structure is the same, as is the distribution of the prizes – the top 20% of the field finishing in the prize money. If last week´s Sunday feature tournament is anything to go by, the BDPO Special should have no trouble meeting its guarantee. Over a thousand players entered last Sunday´s $100,000 tournament – creating a prize pool of $156,300 which was shared between the top 225 players (first prize paid $22,248.88).

BDPO Special Satellites and Sub-Satellites

Players for whom the $162.00 buy-in is a bit steep have plenty of options for winning their seats at a discount via a comprehensive schedule of satellites and “Cheap Seats” sub-satellites. It is also possible to win a seat in special 6-Max Sit & Go games with a buy-in of $38.50; however I prefer the scheduled satellites running each evening at 8:40pm (ET) with a buy-in of $22.00. These guarantee between one and five seats for the target event, and often pay more seats due to being well supported.

If the 8:40pm start time is inconvenient for you, other BDPO Special satellites with buy-ins of $7.70, $13.20, and $17.00 are running around the clock. There are also Cheap Seats sub-satellites running every few hours that pay prizes of $17.00 satellite tickets. These have a buy-in of just $1.00 – making the BDPO Special event on Sunday accessible to every level of player, no matter what their bankroll. Alternatively, if you have sufficient Ignition Miles, you can exchange your Miles for a free entry.

Get Ready for the Black Diamond Poker Open

This year´s Black Diamond Poker Open is longer than before, includes more events than before, and – I have been told – will pay out more than $4 million in prize money. There will be a good mix of tournament formats scattered throughout the schedule, with a minimum of four events played each day plus around-the-clock satellites feeding into every event. Make sure you are ready for the Black Diamond Poker Open by warming up for the series in this Sunday´s BDPO Special at Ignition Poker.
