According to a subdued announcement on the 2+2 poker forum, the next $1 million guaranteed “Million Dollar Sunday” will be played on Sunday April 24.
Last year the Winning Poker Network hosted an incredible seven “Million Dollar Sunday” events – all of which resulted in massive overlays. Now, three months into 2016, players were beginning to wonder if the overlays had threatened there ever being an eighth $1 million guaranteed tournament. It appears not.
According to a “soft launch” announcement on the 2+2 poker forum the Winning Poker Network has provisionally scheduled a Million Dollar Sunday tournament for Sunday April 24. No further details were provided with the announcement, but it is safe to assume that the event will have the same $540.00 buy-in and guarantee the winner a minimum of $200,000.
What is “Million Dollar Sunday”?
In case you are a relative newcomer to the promotions offered by sites on the Winning Poker Network, rather than being a sequence of “Sunday Majors” with combined prize pools adding up to $1 million, the “Million Dollar Sunday” is a standalone poker tournament with a million dollar guaranteed prize pool. The event has been the most valuable online poker tournament open to players in the US since Black Friday in April 2015.
Based on previous Million Dollar Sunday events, the buy-in for the tournament is $540.00 and unlimited re-entries and late registration are allowed for the first five hours. Also based on previous Million Dollar Sunday events, there will be a colossal marketing exercise to qualify as many players as possible through a comprehensive satellite schedule. Often these satellites start at freeroll or “Freebuy” level, with seats to the tournament also being won via special Jackpot Sit & Go games.
Million Dollar Tournament to Feature in Online Super Series
Based on the rather subdued post on the 2+2 poker forum, it would appear that the April 24 Million Dollar Sunday will be the highlight of an Online Super Series – one of the Winning Poker Network´s legendary tournament series with enhanced guarantees on more than sixty events over a ten day period. Working backwards, this would imply that players should free up their calendars from Friday 15 April.
The last Online Super Series (OSS V) took place in December 2015 and paid out more than $2.6 million in prize money over seventy-six events. However the series is not just geared for high rollers. Buy-ins usually start at $0.27 – giving players with smaller bankrolls the opportunity to take advantage of the valuable prizes available throughout the series and get competitive on the OSS Leaderboard Competition.
Where to Play the Million Dollar Sunday
There are a handful of sites attached to the Winning Poker Network, pretty much offering the same excellent welcome package, valuable player rewards scheme and comprehensive choice of cash game and tournament action. However, our recommendation for new players would be [geolink href=”https://www.usafriendlypokersites.com/americas-cardroom/”]Americas Cardroom[/geolink] due to certain features that are unavailable on other sites.
Americas Cardroom is the only online poker site on the Winning Poker Network to offer a native Mac client, is in the process of launching a [geolink href=”https://www.usafriendlypokersites.com/americas-cardroom-to-launch-mobile-poker-app/”]mobile poker app for Android[/geolink], and has recently announced that it will add $50.00 of tournament tickets to its welcome package to encourage more players to compete in the site´s online poker tournaments.
Who knows? You could enter a low buy-in satellite with a free tournament ticket for registering an account with Americas Cardroom, and end up sitting at the final table of the Million Dollar Sunday tournament on April 24!
Who says the dream no longer exists?
