Opening Guarantees for Online Super Series VIII Shattered

Online Super Series VIIIThere was a fantastic start to Online Super Series VIII yesterday, when the guaranteed prize pools for the opening five events were shattered.

Yesterday saw the opening day of action in the Winning Poker Network´s Online Super Series VIII, and what an opening day it was. The five events scheduled for yesterday didn´t just beat their guaranteed prize pools – they shattered them – and there is more of the same expected for tonight as the series makes its way towards an exciting weekend.

For players unfamiliar with what is happening right now at [geolink href=”https://www.usafriendlypokersites.com/americas-cardroom/”]Americas Cardroom[/geolink], [geolink href=”https://www.usafriendlypokersites.com/black-chip-poker/”]Black Chip Poker[/geolink], [geolink href=”https://www.usafriendlypokersites.com/true-poker/”]TruePoker[/geolink] and the not US accepting [geolink href=”https://www.usafriendlypokersites.com/ya-poker/”]Ya Poker[/geolink], here is a quick recap. The Online Super Series VIII is a seventy-eight tournament series, guaranteeing more than $3 million in prize money. It started yesterday and continues until Sunday 18 December, when the network will host a $1,000,000 guaranteed tournament.

OSS VIII Starts with a Bang

The first event of Online Super Series VIII set the scene for what was to come. The $100,000 guaranteed tournament had a quite high buy-in of $109.00, but that did not stop 1,237 players registering for the event to create a prize pool of $123,700. Sixty-three players cashed in the event, with Russian player “i_B_(b)allin” taking home the inflated first prize of $23,503.

The remainder of Day 1´s action saw the guarantees being shattered by even bigger percentages than the opening event (23.70%):

  • OSS #2 – a 6-Max KO PL08 event – saw 555 players compete for $11,100 in prize money (38.75% more than the guaranteed prize pool) plus a further $2,220 in bounties.
  • OSS #3 – another $109.00 buy-in NL Hold´em event – attracted 539 players to create a prize pool 34.75% bigger than the $40,000 guarantee.
  • OSS #4 – a NL Hold´em tournament with a more modest buy-in of $27.50 – was another event to beat its guarantee by more than 30% – paying out $6,725 over its $20,000 guarantee.
  • OSS #5 – a $5.50 buy-in NLHE event for night owls – shattered its guarantee by an incredible 60.88% when 965 players registered for the event.

On average, each of yesterday´s five Online Super Series events beat its guarantee by 38.34%. Combined, they paid out $49,250 more than their guarantees – plus another $2,220 in the KO PL08 event.

More of the Same Expected Today

Although none of today´s tournaments are of the same magnitude as yesterday´s (the biggest guarantee of the day is “just” $50,000), you can expect plenty more guarantee-shattering action. Today´s events get underway at 3:30pm (all times ET) with a $10,000 guaranteed NL Hold´em event that has a buy-in of $8.80, and is followed at 5:00pm with a $4.40 buy-in Super Knockout event guaranteed for $1,000.

Thereafter the big bankrolls are let loose. Possibly the most popular event of the night will be the $88.00 buy-in 6-Max event at 7:45pm (guaranteed for $30,000) followed by a $320.00 buy-in NL HE Freezeout guaranteed for $50,000 that gets underway a 8:30pm. The evening is wrapped up with a $16.50 buy-in Turbo event at 9:30pm and a $2.20 buy-in Super Mega Hyper Turbo at 10:30pm.

Big Weekend Ahead in the Online Super Series

The weekend also promises to be full of guarantee-shattering action. Twenty-one events are scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday – with almost $900,000 in guaranteed prize pools between them – plus there will be a special edition of the Winning Poker Network´s $1,050 buy-in “Cage” – a five hour cash game with increasing blinds every hour.

The highlight of the weekend is undoubtedly the $500,000 guaranteed Sunday Special at 3:00pm on Sunday December 11. With its $320.00 buy-in, one might think that this event represents the biggest chance of an overlay this weekend. However, all of the above mentioned sites on the Winning Poker Network are hosting a comprehensive range of satellites to get players qualified for the event as cheaply as possible.

If you want to take advantage of some of the massive opportunities available at the Winning Poker Network, play in the Online Super Series today!
