Overlay Alert for WPN´s Million Dollar Sunday this Weekend

Million Dollar SundaysThis coming Sunday´s Million Dollar Sunday tournament could be significantly undersubscribed due to a lack of low buy-in satellites and sub-satellites.

This coming Sunday sees the climax of the Winning Poker Network´s Online Super Series – the middle leg of its three stage OSS Cub3d series. The highlight of the schedule is the million dollar guaranteed OSS Main Event, which is also being advertised as a Million Dollar Sunday tournament because it shares the same buy-in ($540) and format of previous Million Dollar Sunday events.

However, whereas previous Million Dollar Sunday events have been supported with hundreds of satellites and sub-satellites, there are relatively few opportunities currently available for players looking to win a seat in the target event for a modest buy-in. Although this is likely to change as the target event draws closer, at present it look as if an overlay is almost inevitable.

WPN´s Million Dollar Sunday Event

The Winning Poker Network´s Million Dollar Sunday event gets underway this coming Sunday August 11th at 3:00pm (all times ET). For the direct buy-in of $540, players receive a stack of 100,000 chips with blinds at 150/300 (ante 40). Blinds increase slowly every twelve minutes, and after the thirty levels of late registration (6½ hours with breaks taken into account), the starting stack will still be worth 10 BBs.

With such a long registration period – during which time unlimited re-entries are allowed if you have the bankroll to support it – you would expect the Million Dollar Sunday event to last well into mid-morning on Monday as it usually does. However, due to the limited opportunities to qualify for the event, it may be the case fewer than the two thousand players required for the event to break even actually turn up.

What Satellites are Currently Available?

As mentioned previously, the satellite lobby will probably be packed full of last minute satellites come the weekend; but, at the time of writing this article, the only satellites showing for the Million Dollar Sunday event (OSS #91) are the five Mega-Satellites scheduled to take place between Friday evening and Sunday afternoon:

Day Time (ET) Buy-in GTD Seats
Friday 6:30pm $66 30 seats
Saturday 6:30pm $88 50 seats
Sunday 11:30am $88 75 seats
Sunday 1:30pm $66 25 seats
Sunday 3:30pm $66 25 seats

All of Sunday´s Mega-Satellites will probably finish after the Million Dollar Sunday event has got underway (the Sunday morning Mega-Satellite has three hours of late registration, so is unlikely to conclude before 3:00pm). Consequently, players who win seats in any of the three qualifiers will automatically be seated in the target event as soon as the Mega-Satellites have concluded.

Don´t Miss the USAF Freeroll Sub-Satellite

Players looking to qualify for free for the Million Dollar Sunday should look no further than the USAFriendlyPokerSites OSS Freeroll that takes place on Sunday morning at 11:00pm on Americas Cardroom and Black Chip Poker. This tournament is free to enter and, unlike previous USAF sub-satellites, is not a “Freebuy” event which gives an advantage to players with funds in their accounts for re-buys and add-ons.

The tournament will award the top three players seats in the 11:30am Mega-Satellite; so, once the freeroll tournament is over, the successful players will be automatically seated in the Mega-Satellite. However, because it is a free-to-enter tournament open to every player, registration will open only a few minutes prior to the freeroll starting. There is then thirty minutes of late registration if there are any seats left (the USAFriendlyPokerSites OSS Freeroll is capped at two thousand players).

Win Your Share of a Million Dollars for Free

Naturally, tackling your way through a massive freeroll field and then qualifying for the Million Dollar Sunday is a massive ask; but, if you can achieve it, the rewards could be substantial. If I am correct, and fewer players than usual take part in the Million Dollar Sunday event, it will be much easier than normal to cash in the tournament and win your share of a million dollars for free.
