PokerGO Announces New Plans for a Tour and Ranking System

In the poker world, you have your operators, news media, and streaming services. They all go hand in hand to provide information on the poker industry. Many times, an entity connected to the industry will step outside its normal box and try something new. This is what PokerGO is doing in 2021. The subscription video service decided to launch a tour this year as well as tournament gaming and a player ranking system. This is a new development and something that poker players are excited about!

PokerGO Tour

Starting in the United States on June 3, the PokerGO Tour will provide gaming at the Aria in Las Vegas. The tour will start during the U.S. Poker Open. The series will run from June 3-14 and provide players with 12 major buy-in events.

In July, the PokerGO Cup is scheduled from the 1-10. There will be eight events on offer. The schedule includes a $100,000 No Limit Hold’em Main Event. On July 12, PokerGO will host a Heads-Up Championship complete with a $100,000 buy-in. The tournament will include 32 poker pros competing in a bracket type format.

In September, the Poker Masters is set to take place. There will be 12 events on the schedule, with tournaments running from the 13-24. The winner of the series will get a purple jacket, which is simlair to the Masters in the golf world.

On September 26, PokerGO will offer up the Super High Roller Bowl. This event will take place over three days and have a large buy-in of $300,000.

Later on, PokerGO will provide the full schedule of events on an international scale. Overall, players can expect the series to provide tens of millions in total prize money. The value is clear just by reviewing the US-based tournament options.

New Player Ranking System

Along with events, the subscription service provider is set to start a new ranking system within its tour. Players will earn points based on where they finish in events. When the tour is over, the top points earner will be named the Player of the Year and earn a $100,000 prize. Second place will earn $50,000 and third will take home $25,000 in additional funds.

In its announcement, PokerGO said that the ranking system will be similar to those seen in professional sports leagues. In a press release, PokerGO stated that in the history of poker, there has never been a globally recognized tour that offered a ranking system to celebrate the elite players in the world.

PokerGO has started something that they hope will continue to evolve and grow. Mori Eskandani, the president of PokerGO said that tour events will include the most challenging high-stakes events in the world and bring poker front and center to the world of sports as it has never been before.

It will certainly be interesting to see how the new tour fares. Will professional players come out and take part? Or will the fields mostly consist of amateur players? We are certainly excited to find out!
