The WCOOP is always a highlight for poker players who are members of PokerStars. The series is always massive, and this year is no exception. The events will take place in 17 different tournament formats, providing players with plenty of variety. For the formats, players will find such options at 8-game, Badugi, limit hold’em, 5-card PLO, 2-7 Single Draw no limit and fixed limit, Omaha 8 in no, limit and pot limit as well as HORSE, Razz and many more.
Buy-ins will run the spectrum with some events costing just a few bucks while the largest goes as high as $25,000. This provides players of all bankrolls with something to look forward to. The low, medium and high buy-in levels are one reason why the series is so popular. No matter the players bankroll size, there is an event they can compete in.
Of course, the Main Event is one of the most anticipated on the schedule. This year, the Main Event will feature a $5,200 buy-in and offer up a whopping $10,000,000 in guaranteed prize money. It is expected that many players will compete in the high end version as well as the mid and low options.
There are additional details regarding the upcoming WCOOP that players need to be aware of. PokerStars will be hosing a $100,000 Player of the Series race plus allow the Fast Track format. Players can qualify for WCOOP events via four steps series. With the Fast Track system, players can compete for the high Main Event seats each day.
On top of that, PokerStars is also offering up the WCOOP Sweepstakes that includes $1.5 million. To compete, players must play in WCOOP events. Tickets will then be provided that are used in a daily drawing. Six players will earn an entry into the $25,000 Super High Roller each day. Three players will be given seats to the $5,200 Main Event each day.
The winner of last year’s Main Event was BigBlindBets of the UK. The player outlasted a field of 2,236 players and managed to win just over $1.6 million for the first-place finish. The total prize pool up for grabs was just over $11.1 million.
