WPN Announces the Return of the High Five Series

High Five Tournament SeriesThe popular twenty-five event High Five Series returns to the Winning Poker Network from Wednesday January 20, with $840,000 guaranteed in prize pools.

The Winning Poker Network´s High Five Series has been a popular event on the online poker calendar since 2013. Comprising of five events each day for five consecutive days, the tournament schedule offers something for every type of player and every type of bankroll.

Between Wednesday January 20 and Sunday January 24, thousands of players will descend on Americas Cardroom, Black Chip Poker and True Poker to compete in the valuable events. For this series, the total amount of guaranteed prize pools is set at $840,000, yet buy-ins to the events start at $2.20.

Great Variety of Tournament Formats

Among the many different types of tournament formats on offer, players can choose from 4-Max, 6-Max and full ring events. Only a couple of rebuy and add-on events appear in the High Five schedule, but there are plenty of tournaments with late registration and re-entry lasting for five hours.

Turbo events and hyper-turbo events are also included in the High Five Series, as well as knockout tournaments and a couple with mega starting stacks. Omaha players will not be disappointed with the schedule, as four Omaha or Omaha Hi/Lo tournaments are scheduled to take place during the five days of action, with three of the events having $15,000 guaranteed prize pools.

High Five Main Event Guarantees $420,000

The highlight of the series is the $420,000 guaranteed Main Event that gets underway at 4:00pm (EST) on Sunday January 24. This is likely to be an incredibly popular event despite its $455.00 buy-in based on the number of players that have been competing in the network´s “Sunday Special” recently.

Satellites for the Main Event will appear soon in the “Tourney” Lobby of sites such as Americas Cardroom, Black Chip Poker and True Poker; but don´t forget that all the skins on the network have a “Spin to get IN” game in each tournament lobby that provides the opportunity for players to win a seat in any event from just $0.01.

More Good News for PLO Fans

A couple of weeks ago, the Winning Poker Network introduced a “Sunday Special” tournament for Pot Limit Omaha players. Unsure of how successful it would be, the network set the guarantee at $25,000 for the $215.00 buy-in event and said that it would increase the guarantee by $2,000 each time the guarantee was met.

By last Sunday the guarantee had increased to $29,000, but it was smashed through the roof when 170 players bought into the tournament – creating a prize pool of $34,000. Consequently the guarantee has gone up again for next Sunday´s PLO tournament and players will be playing for $31,000. Don´t worry if the $215.00 buy-in is a little beyond your bankroll. There is a good range of satellites available in the “Tourney” lobby.

Have you Seen the Size of the Beast?

The Beast is the Winning Poker Network´s weekly non-contributory rake race that pays out thousands of dollars in cash prizes and tournament entry tickets each week. Launched in 2012 – and originally offered as a monthly rake race – players ascend up the Beast leaderboard by earning points at the cash game tables (both NL Hold´em and Omaha in case you were wondering).

We don´t know what the Beast had to eat over Christmas, but the value of the prizes has gone up incredibly over the past few weeks. The pool for this week´s prize is rapidly approaching $60,000 in cash and $20,000 in tournament entry tickets and – to put that into context – the value of the prizes is now more than double what it was two years ago.

As more players sign up for accounts with the Winning Poker Network, we can see the total value of the Beast exceeding $100,000 before Easter!
