WPN Running Multi-Day PLO Tournament with $50K Guarantee

Winning Poker NetworkIf you enjoy playing high stakes PLO events, your options have just got better thanks to the Winning Poker Network´s new multi-day Omaha tournament.

Online high stakes PL Omaha tournaments are pretty hard to find wherever you live; but, in the States, it´s virtually impossible. Regulated sites don´t have the traffic to support high stakes games, and while Ignition Poker has a handful of $55 buy-in events each week with a $10,000 guarantee, there are no PLO games at BetOnline with a buy-in higher than $11.00. That leaves the Winning Poker Network.

Fortunately, the Winning Poker Network appreciates its PL Omaha players and hosts multiple games each week with five-figure guaranteed prize pools. It also hosts a PLO Sunday Special with a $215.00 buy-in and a $35,000 guaranteed prize pool; and, during the forthcoming High Five series, there are a couple of midweek events in the schedule with $109 buy-ins and prize pool guarantees of $15,000.

New $50K Guaranteed PL Omaha Tournament

Yesterday, the Network quietly launched a new PL Omaha tournament – a multi-day 6-Max event with a direct buy-in of $1,050 and a prize pool guarantee of $50,000. The tournament has two opening flights (the first was played last night and the second is tonight at 6:00pm), and players that survive the twenty-four levels of action will return on Sunday to do battle for the lion´s share of the prize money.

If the event is well supported over the next couple of weeks, it could become a permanent feature in the Winning Poker Network´s extensive tournament schedule. This would not only be good for high stakes players, but also for mid stakes players who can qualify for the two opening flights via a fair selection of satellites and sub-satellites, and be in with a chance of seriously enhancing their bankrolls.

The New PL Omaha Tournament´s Structure

The opening flights (or Day 1s) take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 6:00pm (all times ET); and, for their $1,050 buy-in, players receive 300,000 chips. Blinds start at 250/500 (ante 25) and increase gently every fifteen minutes. Late registration is open for six levels, by which time the blinds will have increased to 1,100/2,200 (ante 110) – or around 136 Big Blinds for late registering players.

Unlimited re-entries are allowed during late registration, and players who have played in Day 1A can re-enter on Day 1B whether or not they have survived Day 1A. Players who survive both days carry forward their largest chip stack to Sunday´s Day 2, which gets underway at 4:00pm and continues until a winner is found. Based on last night´s entry, the final prize money will likely exceed the $50,000 guarantee.

Plenty of PLO High Stakes Cash Action as Well

Surprisingly for a Network with a well-supported PLO tournament schedule, the action at its PLO Sit & Go tables is remarkably quiet – most players tending to head for the cash game tables, where full ring and 6-Max games are available (and supported) up to stakes of $50/$100 for pot limit games and $75/$150 for fixed limit games. You´ll also find high stakes Hi/Lo games running all day long.

Possibly one of the reasons why Omaha Poker is so popular at Winning Poker Network sites is that the four card game sees more post-flop action than NL Hold´em – especially in games of Omaha Hi/Li. Consequently players earn frequent player points at a faster rate – enabling them to clear bonuses quicker and scale the levels in the Network´s excellent VIP rewards program.
