The Mohegan Sun Casino is among the biggest tribal casinos in the United States, and it is based in Uncasville, Connecticut. It recently announced its $15 million expansion plan. The latest reports state that the casino will concentrate on offering a variety of VIP options.

Besides having a wide array of betting options, the Mohegan Sun hosts different sporting events, and it launched a hotel tower in 2016. Its renovations will add an extra VIP Lounge and improve the Royal Suites. It also has allocated a budget for the Mohegan Sun Golf Club.

The announcement came after two other huge tribal casinos in Connecticut had a successful month. Foxwood Resort Casino and the Mohegan Sun Casino earned $75 million in profits from their slot machines. Their online casino games earned them millions in gross gaming revenue (GGR).

The Mohegan Sun Casino was launched in October 1996, and it has 364,000 square feet of gaming space. It has a sportsbook, table games, and many slot machines. Also, it began providing online gaming in 2021 after the state amended the tribal gaming compact.

Players can use any of the casino's 1,563 guest rooms. It has two hotel towers, and guests can select from its 45 dining options. Besides, there are top-notch amenities like live events, nightclubs, and spas.

The Mohegan Sun has hosted events like combat sports and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fights. Also, it is the Connecticut Suns, a Women National Basketball Association (WNBA) team's home. Chris Rock, Michael Bolton, Sting, and Limp Bizkit are a few upcoming acts that will be held in the casino resort.

Details About the Casino's Renovation Plans

The casino did its last renovation in 2016 as it launched the Earth Tower. Tribal executives are concentrating on improving high rollers' gaming experience. The Casino of the Earth will add a 6,500-square-foot VIP Lounge.

The Mohegan Sun's renovation plans include renovating its two cozy guest suites. It nicknamed the rooms the Royal Suites, and the renovations will cost $3,000,000.

The tribe is partnering with the Rockwell Group from New York to perform complete makeovers. Still, it will renovate amenities like the Sachem Lounge in the Casino of the Sky. It plans to spend $1,000,000 renovating the Mohegan Sun Golf Club.

Reports state that the casino resort will use most of the money to buy better maintenance equipment. It might redesign sections of its 18-hole championship golf course soon.

Tribal Casinos Prospered in March

Many American states have increased their gaming revenue of late. Connecticut's two biggest tribal casinos are part of this trend. The Mohegan Sun Casino's slot machines generated $44,700,000, while the Foxwood Resort Casino generated $30,400,000 in March.

The two tribal casinos' revenue increased by more than 2 percent, unlike in March 2021. The state has a 25 percent hold of the gaming slot revenue that its tribal casinos generate. But the tribes keep the profit they make from table games.

Connecticut allowed Class III tribal casinos to offer online gaming. The Mohegan Sun earned $8,100,000 from its online casino and an extra $3,500,000 from its online bookie. The Foxwood Resort Casino earned $10,200,000 from its online casino and an extra $2,500,000 from its online bookmaker.
