Till Enters as the Favorite

At -175 odds, Till enters his fight with Brunson (+150) at UFC Vegas 36 as the odds-on favorite to win. On one hand, it’s easy to see why that’s the case. After all, he’s only been defeated three times in his career and challenged for the UFC Welterweight Championship as recently as September 2018. While that bout may not have ended the way that Till had hoped, it showed that he’s capable of being one of the top fighters in any division that he challenges in.

Unfortunately, Till’s three career losses have come in his last four fights and he hasn’t fought since he lost to Robert Whittaker by decision back in July 2020. Nevertheless, one thing that he does have going for him is that he’s incredibly tough to take down (82% takedown defense rating). Considering how a big part of Brunson’s games involves takedowns, Till should put up quite the challenge.

Till will need to outlast Brunson long enough for a knockout window to open. Five of the latter’s seven defeats have come via KO/TKO, which is why the former is favored to win by knockout if he is victorious. If the bout turns into who can out-strike the other, it seems smart to lean towards Till at UFC Vegas 36.

Brunson UFC Vegas 36 Odds

As mentioned earlier, Brunson will enter this upcoming weekend as the +150 underdog. These odds may be somewhat surprising, considering how the 37-year-old southpaw is currently in the middle of a four-fight win streak. His most victory came back in March when he defeated Kevin Holland by unanimous decision. In fact, three of his victories during his current streak have actually been decided by decision.

Nevertheless, it’s still tough to ignore the skid that Brunson was on before his four-fight win streak. Prior to that, he had lost four of his previous six fights, with three of those losses coming by TKO. Considering how he’s susceptible to the knockout and that’s how Till is favored to win, it’s understandable why Brunson has his doubters ahead of UFC Vegas 36. While he typically likes to go the distance as of late, he may need to figure out how to dispose of Till early on if he plans on challenging for the UFC Middleweight Championship in the near future.
