Belterra Park Gaming & Entertainment Center

Formerly known as River Downs, Belterra Park Gaming and Entertainment Center is a racino located just outside of Cincinnati. Although the Buckeye State has some strict rules, Belterra Park is still able to put together a great gambling destination with plenty of betting options and value.

It all started as a thoroughbred race track but has expanded to so much more. Now owned and operated by Boyd Gaming, Belterra Park is bigger and better than ever, providing a casino, simulcast, great dining, entertainment, promotions, and entertainment as well as horse racing. A day at the track is so much more at Belterra Park.

Casino

Belterra Park may be a thoroughbred racing track first and foremost, but this doesn’t mean that their casino is an afterthought. After all, there are over 1,300 games ready for action in their casino.

The gaming floor itself is almost 50,000 square feet, and it is filled with the latest and most popular games. However, you won’t find any table games at Belterra Park casino.

Of course, this is not exactly their fault as it is in accordance with state law. Even without games such as blackjack, roulette, and craps, Belterra still packs their casino with plenty of slots, reels, and video poker machines. Sure, it isn’t Vegas, but this is as big as it can get in the state of Ohio.

Racing

River Downs has been the big name in Cincinnati thoroughbred racing since the 1920s and, although the name has changed and the gambling has expanded, it remains so today with a calendar full of live action and races. The thoroughbred race season is from late April through late September, and fans are invited to enjoy the open-air paddock of Belterra Park and its wonderful views.

Every type of wager is available along with plenty of Daily Doubles and Triple Plays. There is nothing better than a day at the races, and the total horse racing experience of Belterra Park is not to be missed.

Simulcast

To add even more value to the total horse racing experience of Belterra Park, the River Downs Club is a simulcast lounge where players are welcome to wager on races around the country. There are over 40 HDTVs featuring race after race from great parks like Churchill Downs, Santa Anita, Saratoga, and many more.

There are 16 self-service betting stations located throughout the park along with seven teller stations as well, making getting wagers in before post time a snap. There are also private carousels with personal televisions and comfy seating available every day.

Promotions

Promotions at Belterra Park are always a lot of fun. First of all, there are a lot of them. From door prizes to drawings to contests, there is always a big promotion being run at Belterra Park.

The giveaways are outstanding and can be anything from cash to new appliances. However, Belterra Park doesn’t stop there with their promotions, thanks to the B Connected rewards program.

Signing up with the B Connected rewards program is a must for any frequent guests. Not only are there more daily promotions and giveaways for members, but there is also everything the rewards can bring.

Members earn points for every dollar spent at Belterra Park, and those points can then be redeemed for discounts, comps, and vacations. All the Boyd Gaming properties accept B Connected, so your rewards dollar can stretch all across the country.

Dining

There are four dining options for guests at Belterra Park. Stadium Sports Bar and Grill is a great option with plenty of beer, casual food, and all the games.

For those looking for more options, the Market Buffet offers up all kinds of dishes cooked to order for a unique buffet experience. Burger Brothers cooks up the best burgers in the city.

Looking for something more upscale? Be sure to check out Favorites Steak and Pasta. Plus, Be Connected members are allowed access to Club 38 for the VIP treatment with complimentary food and drink as well as great views of every race.

Overall Review

The legal gambling options in the state of Ohio are few and far between because of their very strict laws. That said, some gambling is available here and there, and Belterra Park is able to pack in as much of it as possible into one establishment.

Sure, this is not the overblown casino resorts of the Vegas Strip. In fact, it is something entirely new and completely born from necessity.

Horse racing plus video gaming plus great dining options plus entertainment is a brand new equation in this industry, and one the Belterra Park Gaming and Entertainment Center has captured as well as any other. A day at the races just got a whole lot more interesting.
