Southland Casino and Racing in West Memphis, Ark., is one of the biggest and best greyhound racetracks in the United States. Southland hosted more than 6,600 greyhound races in 2019, but there are other terrific features of this establishment as well.
A $38 million expansion project was announced in 2014, and it has revitalized the property as many new features were added. People from all over the state travel to West Memphis to visit Southland Casino and Racing, which is an important part of the state’s economy.
Recently another expansion project was announced, with this renovation costing more than $250 million. The addition of a hotel on-site will be a part of this expansion project.
Southland Casino and Racing Games
The gaming floor at Southland is 80,000 square feet, and all of the popular games are offered. Southland offers over 2,000 different slots, and they continue to add the latest games to their gaming floor.
Live table games were prohibited in Arkansas until 2019, but they were quickly added to Southland Casino when the restrictions were lifted. Southland offers table games such as blackjack, craps, and roulette, and poker games are also available.
The casino is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and the action simply never stops at Southland. If a customer is looking to up the ante, Southland offers a High Limits Room where slots can be played up to $25 a spin.
Southland Casino and Racing Hotel
There are several great hotels to stay at in the West Memphis area, but Southland Casino and Racing does not currently offer hotel accommodations. A new hotel is a part of the massive renovation project set to take place at Southland, and it will allow customers to stay on-site.
Very few details have been released, but the new hotel will be a 20-story building that will feature over 300 hotel rooms.
Southland Casino and Racing Dining
Most customers come to Southland Casino and Racing for the gaming, but some people come for the excellent dining options. There are seven different restaurants/bars at Southland, and they all offer different types of dining.
The Bourbon Street Steakhouse and Grill is more of an upscale dining option at Southland, but it’s extremely popular in West Memphis. Cafe 56 features traditional cafe-style foods as well as coffee and other novelty drinks.
Customers that visit Southland Casino and Racing for the greyhound races have two different options to dine at the race track. The Kennel Club is one of the restaurants that offer trackside dining, and the other option is Q&E2.
Patrons that want to have a drink while playing in the casino can visit the Shine Bar or the High Limits Bar. The High Limits bar is located off of the High Limits Room, and complimentary soda and water are also served to patrons on the gaming floor.
Southland Casino and Racing Rewards
The Lucky North Club is the name given to the rewards program that is offered at Southland. It is free for customers to join the Lucky North Club, and the card will be given out after completing a very simple application.
There are five levels of the Lucky North Club, and the rewards get better with each new tier. Here are the tiers that are offered:
- Ruby: 0-2,999 Points
- Emerald: 3,000-19,999 Points
- Sapphire: 20,000-79,999 Points
- Diamond: 80,000-199,999 Points
- Black Diamond: 200,000+ Points
Even though racking up points is the best way to climb the tiers, points can also be redeemed for free play opportunities at the casino. Southland Casino and Racing offers a Lucky North Club app to make it easy to keep track of the rewards.
Southland Casino and Racing Sportsbook
Sports betting was launched in Arkansas in January 2020, and Southland Casino and Racing is one of the best places to bet in the state. Customers must be 21 years of age to place a bet on sports, but there are many ways to place a bet.
The Sports Bar and Grill is the main sports betting site at the casino, but kiosks are located throughout the casino as well. The Sports Bar and Grill has tellers ready to take your bets, or there are sports betting kiosks located inside of the restaurant as well.
Betting on greyhound racing mainly takes place at the racetrack, but bets on these races can also be made inside. All of the top professional sports in the United States are offered, and IGT PlaySports is the company that operates the retail sports betting operation at Southland.

Southland Casino and Racing also attracts a large number of guests that come for the live entertainment. The Sports Bar and Grill features live entertainment every Friday night from 9 pm to 1 am.
