Cordish Companies and FanDuel Team up for Pennsylvania Sports Betting

Since the sports betting industry opened up in the United States, operators of all kinds are popping up to offer wagering services. FanDuel, originally known for their daily fantasy sports betting options, decided fairly quickly to get on the sports betting game. The company has already signed deals with several operators across the nation and just recently announced a partnership with the Cordish Companies for their properties in Pennsylvania.

The Cordish Companies are currently developing two Live! casinos in Pennsylvania. Both venues should be ready to 2020 and will be set to offer sports betting via FanDuel. Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia as well as Live! Casino in Westmoreland County will be home to a FanDuel operated sportsbook.

Along with retail options, the two will be working together to offer online betting as well. FanDuel and Cordish Companies have plans to work in other areas of the United States as well. Plans include launching services in Maryland and Washington D.C., among other areas.

FanDuel has already been offering services in Pennsylvania with a partnership with the Valley Forge Casino Resort. They also launched an online app in July. The Cordish Companies are excited to begin working with their experienced sports betting operator.

Continued Construction

As the Cordish Companies announce the new partnership with FanDuel, they must first complete the construction of their facilities before they can offer services. A topping off ceremony recently took place involving the Philadelphia venue. The facility is located near the sports complexes for the Eagles, Sixers, Flyers and the Phillies.

This Live! location will be perfect for FanDuel as it will bring in sports fans from several different professional leagues. Over 8.5 million visitors travel to the nearby sports arenas with many most likely visiting the casino as well to place sports bets while attending games.

The casino will be over 1.5 million square feet in size and will have a gaming floor that is home to 2,200 slot games along with over 150 table games.

The Westmoreland County property broke ground in November, with the company spending around $150 million on the construction of the Live! Casino. This facility is located at the Westmoreland Mall and will be smaller at only 100,000 square feet. The property will have 750 slots and 30 table games. The sportsbook will also be a big draw for visitors.

For now, players will have to wait a little longer before having access to FanDuel sports betting via the Cordish Companies properties. The brand seems to be on track to launch in 2020 but an exact date has not been revealed. The partnership with the Cordish Companies is just one way that FanDuel is offering sports betting in the United States.

The brand will only continue to move into new states as legislation passes to allow sports betting within new areas. FanDuel is a top operator and casinos look for experienced brands when launching new services. It will be interesting to see how they fare once se
