Cordish Companies Provide Details of New Mini Casino Project

The Cordish Companies have begun renovations on their newest project, a mini casino in the Westmoreland Mall in the Hempfield Township. The company plans to provide 100,000 square feet of dining, gaming and entertainment space. The smaller casino will be located in a vacant spot of the mall, which is situated near the Pittsburgh area.

New Details

The mini casino will be titled Live! Casino West and will cost around $150 million to complete. Demolition of the mall space began in April, so the project has been underway for quite some time. A date has not been provided as of yet for opening, but we do know that it should be ready for operation by next summer.

The project moves along at the same time as a larger casino is being constructed by the company in South Philadelphia, next to the local sports stadiums. The larger venue will be home to a sportsbook and poker room along with offering meeting pace and restaurants. Titled Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, the casino should be open by the end of next year.

For the smaller casino, the property will include 750 slot games and 30 live table games. It will also feature a retail sportsbook. The project is expected to impact the annual economy by $188 million with an additional $148 million provided during the construction phase.

Once the venue is open for business, around 500 permanent employment positions will be up for grabs. For construction, just under 1,000 positions will be filled, both direct and indirect.

Something Unique

According to The Cordish Companies principle, Jon Cordish, the property will bring strong economic value to the region. The company is pleased to have broken ground on the project and are ready to expand their ‘distinctive brand’ further in the state. The company wants to bring a friendly atmosphere with an exciting environment to the region, which will be reflected in their new property of Westmoreland County.

At the mini casino, the company will be opening the Sports & Social Steel City, which will be a restaurant, gaming venue and social lounge combined. The space will have 445 seats and comprise of two levels. A 45-foot high LED video screen will be displayed for viewing sports events while interactive social games like a golf simulator and bowling will be offered.

The goal of this space is to provide a year-round fan clubhouse options where visitors can enjoy dining, live music, gaming, social options and more.

The mini casino will see the brand entering a new market in the state. The Cordish Companies is excxited to enter the Pittsburgh market and introduce the way they approach and create unique entertainment experiences for guests. The company is grateful to everyone in the community that is working to bring the project to life.

The mini casino by the Cordish Companies will be one of the first to open in the state of Pennsylvania. All eyes are on the state as the smaller venues are opened to see how popular the lower level casinos are in the region.
