GVC Announces New Player Protections; party and BetMGM ready to implement changes in PA

Just a few weeks ago, gaming company GVC Holdings announced a new Sustainability Charter. This charter has several key points that will help the brand to promote a safer gaming environment. Part of the charter is the company partnering with PlayPause, a new tool used for responsible gaming. Conscious Gaming created the tool and it will launch first via GVC’s BetMGM brand. GVC operates BetMGM as part of Roar Digital, a joint venture with MGM Resorts International.

For GVC, they look to protect players in the US via its partypoker and party casino brands along with BetMGM with initiatives from the new charter. Part of the charter will see the company donating around $132 million within a five year time frame to help responsible gambling initiatives. It is unclear as to how much of that amount was used to secure the partnership with Conscious Gaming for PlayPause access.

Shay Sevev is the CEO of GVC who stated that the company is ‘delighted’ to be the first official partner of the new tool. PlayPause has a multi-state approach that will help the company maintain its commitment to providing customers with safe and enjoyable gaming.

GVC has been working for quite some time to become a notably responsible operator. They are exiting all unregulated markets, known as gray areas, and will be completed with this process by 2023. They have started a new Advanced Responsibility & Care (ARC) program and will also be providing executive bonuses to those who hit responsible gambling targets.

Get to Know PlayPause

The new tool that BetMGM will be using is known as PlayPause. It is a tool used for self-exclusion from gambling. It is a sophisticated option that operators can use to allow players to place restrictions on themselves. The tool can be used by BetMGM in any state that it is active in. Essentially, it allows players to self-ban or self-regulate themselves while traveling, if they feel the need to do so.

With the tool, players can be stopped from logging in to an existing account and opening a new one. The self-exclusion from gaming can be temporary or permanent, all at the discretion of the player. With PlayPause, players do not have to worry about traveling and feeling compelling to gamble. The state to state aspect allows players to be banned across the country.

PlayPause is also customizable based on the player. Let’s say one player has trouble stopping slot game play but can easily play blackjack and craps. The player can then choose to self-exclude from only slots. This is a unique feature that is sure to come in handy among players. Features can also be used to monitor gaming habits by players, just as operators are able to do.

The tool comes in very handy now as online gambling is expanding across the United States. For BetMGM, they operate mobile sports betting in six different states. They also have an online casino in West Virginia. They are about to launch in Pennsylvania and will be able to provide tool in all areas where they offer online services.
