NBA Odds: Will These Four Players Be Traded Before the Deadline?

The NBA trade deadline is tomorrow and the basketball world hasn’t been able to stop discussing who’ll be on the move. Some teams will sell their players to work on their future while others will be buyers to try and win now.

For sports bettors, it’s always fun to speculate on who’ll end up where.

Bovada has released odds on certain NBA players who’ve been in trade rumors recently and what the chances are that they’ll be traded by the end of March 25. Check out some of the notable players and their odds below.

Will Kyle Lowry Be Traded Before the NBA Trade Deadline?

Odds via Bovada as of Wednesday, March 24

  • Yes -120
  • No -120

With the Toronto Raptors underperforming this year, Kyle Lowry’s name has been involved in NBA trade rumors this season. Originally, it was rumored that his preferred trade destination was the Philadelphia 76ers because that’s his hometown team. However, The Ringer is now reporting that Lowry’s preferred team is the Miami Heat because of his friendship with Jimmy Butler.

Regardless, Lowry’s odds of getting traded are 50/50, according to Bovada. The 34-year-old is an upcoming free agent. If the Raptors are set to rebuild, it makes sense to trade the NBA veteran. His career is winding down and he probably wouldn’t want to spend his last years rebuilding.

Will Kevin Love Be a Cavalier After the Deadline?

Odds via Bovada as of Wednesday, March 24

  • Yes +600
  • No -1200

At -1200, it’s looking like Kevin Love will still be in Cleveland after the NBA trade deadline. A big part of this has to do with him being in the second year of his four-year, $120 million contract. It’s one thing if this was the last year of his deal, but not many teams are going to want a $30 million cap hit for Love, who’s far from his prime anymore.

The 32-year-old has appeared in just four games this season, averaging 5.8/3.3/1.3.

It’s looking more likely that, if his time in Cleveland is up, Love could be bought to sign with an NBA Championship contender on a veteran minimum deal. Teams like the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat have been looking for power forward help.

Will Norman Powell Be Traded Before the NBA Trade Deadline?

Odds via Bovada as of Wednesday, March 24

  • Yes -175
  • No +135

Another Toronto Raptors player whose time in Canada could be up is Norman Powell. NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski reported yesterday that the Raptors have been talking with other teams about trading Powell and Lowry.

Powell is having the best season of his career. He’s averaging a career-high 19.5 points per game while shooting on .495/.434/.868 splits. His cap hit of $10.8 million is also digestible for playoff teams, meaning the Raptors can get back prospects and picks for the future without taking on a bad contract.

Will the Magic Trade Aaron Gordon Before the NBA Trade Deadline?

Odds via Bovada as of Wednesday, March 24

  • Yes -250
  • No +170

As it stands, it’s looking like Aaron Gordon won’t be playing for the Orlando Magic much longer. Just a few days ago, the 25-year-old requested a trade from the team.

Gordon spoke with NBA reporters about his trade request after a 110-99 loss to the Denver Nuggets last night. He said that it had to do with the fact that he’s frustrated with the organization, from management to how often the team’s been losing lately.

“You know, it’s just my frustration kind of boiling over, I would say,” Gordon said. “And I think a lot of people share that sentiment with me, of frustration.”

He’s currently averaging 14.6/6.6/4.3 this season. Meanwhile, the Magic are 14-29 on the season, good for second-last in the Eastern Conference.
