New Sportsbook App Approved in New Jersey via theScore

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement recently approved theScore to launch a new sports betting app in the state. The initial approval allows the company to launch their app for a preview before going live with a full launch.

Ready to Go

Earlier in August, theScore sent out emails to customers in New Jersey, alerting them that exclusive access would be given to a select group of users before everyone else. Once the testing phase is completed, the app will be ready to function full time, just in time for the upcoming NFL season.

The new online sportsbook app will be operating under the license held by Monmouth Park. TheScore was able to secure the last and final mobile online skin with the casino. PlaySugarHouse and William Hill are the other two operators under the brand.

CEO and founder of theScore, John Levy, recently commented on the launch and how it is a huge milestone for the company. According to Levy, the launch is the result of ‘tireless hard work’ that has been completed to ensure the sportsbook was ready to launch. TheScore cannot wait to provide a best-in-class sportsbook for the state.

Getting to Know theScore

The company behind the new app is an established one but not in the sports betting industry. Based in Toronto, the brand offers a digital sports news application that can be accessed in the United States. The app has as many as 4 to 5 million active users each month.

Because of their existing online presence, the sports betting app from theScore should be a success. Known as theScore Bet, the sports betting application will be separate from the news app. The company will be offering not only an app for Android users but also iOS devices.

This has been a point of contention among operators as the Apple company changed their requirements for gaming applications. Now, there must be a native app, and this has caused several operators to launch online services without iOS capabilities.

For theScore, the team behind the brand decided to create a native app from the beginning so it would be ready when launch time arrived. This means that not only does theScore have a huge fan base to pull from, but they also can be reached by every mobile user, which should put them at the forefront of online sports betting in the region.

Multiple State Operations

TheScore has plans to offer services not just in New Jersey but other states as well. The Garden State is just one of many the company plans on operating in. Earlier this month, theScore made it known that they had signed an agreement with Penn National Gaming, which would provide multi-state market access to their gaming options.

The company can now offer their online and mobile wagering services in eleven states. Penn National Gaming is operational in these states with casino and racetrack venues.

With the launch in New Jersey, theScore Bet is the 15th online site offered in the state featuring sports betting. Even more apps will launch in the future once Bet365NJ and Unibet NJ are live. Both of these operators are partnered with Hard Rock Atlantic City and are on the soon to launch list.

With so many operators in the mix, players have no shortage of online sites and applications to use via desktop or mobile device to place sports wagers.
