NFL Draft Odds: Who’ll Be Selected with the First Three Picks?

The 2021 NFL Draft is right around the corner. On Thursday, April 29, the 32 teams of the league will gather to address their roster’s present and future needs. One of the most exciting traditions of the draft is getting to see who gets selected within the first three picks.

Historically speaking, the first three picks of the NFL Draft often end up being difference makers for their respective teams. The Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers will get to see if this trend remains true as they’ll be the first three teams on the clock on April 29. To make things interesting, each of the three teams is quarterback-hungry.

While the order isn’t guaranteed, BetOnline has released odds on who’ll get selected with each of the first three picks.

NFL Draft Odds: Trevor Lawrence Projected to Be First Overall

Odds via BetOnline as of Thursday, April 8

  • Trevor Lawrence -10000
  • Zach Wilson +1200
  • Justin Fields +2000
  • Penei Sewell +2500

One of the least shocking aspects of this year’s NFL draft is the fact that Trevor Lawrence is favored to go first overall. Experts have been expecting that to happen for the last few years, so it’s not surprising that BetOnline feels the same way. He spent three seasons at Clemson, throwing for 10,098 yards and 90 touchdowns during his tenure. He’s also won several championships, MVP awards and even made multiple All-ACC teams. Lawrence truly has all the makings of a potential star in the NFL, which is why the Jaguars won’t hesitate drafting him with the No. 1 pick.

It’s also not a slight against the other top-ranked quarterbacks. Lawrence is just that good and if the Jaguars want to improve their Super Bowl odds for years to come, he’s their man.

Jets Likely to Select Wilson with No. 2 Pick

Odds via BetOnline as of Thursday, April 8

  • Zach Wilson -1500
  • Justin Fields +750
  • Trey Lance +1600
  • Penei Sewell +2200

Up until recently, there was a lot of speculation as to who the Jets would select with the No. 2 pick in the NFL draft. Some experts theorized that they may have ended up drafting offensive tackle Penei Sewell to improve the team’s offensive line. Well, those theories were put to rest when the Jets traded away quarterback Sam Darnold earlier this week to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for three draft picks.

With no starting quarterback, BetOnline is leaning towards the Jets selecting Zach Wilson out of BYU with the No. 2 selection. He has one of the best arms in the draft and could be someone that the Jets build around for the next decade and beyond. In his 2020 season with BYU, Wilson threw for 3,692 yards and 33 touchdowns to 3 interceptions in just 12 games. While college stats don’t always translate to NFL success, Wilson is a special quarterback that oozes potential. If anyone can convert that to the big leagues, it’s him.

NFL Draft Odds: 49ers Favored to Select Mac Jones

Odds via BetOnline as of Thursday, April 8

  • Mac Jones -200
  • Justin Fields +250
  • Trey Lance +325
  • Zach Wilson +1400

The 49ers shocked the world when they recently acquired the No. 3 pick from the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a bundle of draft picks, including three first-rounders. With rumors that the team is moving on from Jimmy Garoppolo, odds favor Mac Jones ending up in San Francisco when the NFL draft is over. Back in February, he wasn’t even in conversations about getting drafted this high. However, Jones’ finish to the 2020 college football season had everybody taking notice of him.

Jones put up monster numbers at Alabama last season. He threw 4,500 passing yards, connecting for 41 touchdowns to 4 interceptions and led the Crimson Tide to a national championship victory.
