New Online Sports Betting Funding Option Now Available in New Jersey and Pennsylvania

New Jersey and Pennsylvania are setting the standard for legal online sports betting in the U.S., posting record numbers in recent months. Now, sports bettors in those states will have access to another method to fund their online accounts and keep those numbers going strong.

It was announced on Thursday that the Game On card was now available for purchase in New Jersey and Pennsylvania for use at the online sports betting operators in those states. The card has been developed by renowned payments provider Blackhawk Network, and it is being issued by MetaBank, N.A.

The Game On card can be purchased at a number of grocers and retail institutions in New Jersey and Pennsylvania or at the card’s website, which also features an updated list of online sports betting sites where the card is accepted and retailers where it can be purchased.

The card, which is not reloadable, can be used to fund accounts at the likes of DraftKings Sportsbook, Fanduel Sportsbook, and more. A few of the stores where the card can already be found include Giant Eagle, Lowe’s, and Office Depot & OfficeMax.

A Giftable, Secure Funding Solution

The Game On card represents an appealing new option for bettors who are looking for another way to securely fund their accounts and stay in control of their spending. It can also be purchased as a gift, which makes this great news for those who are looking for a sports betting-themed holiday gift for a friend or loved one. With the NFL playoffs on the horizon and the NBA season set to start on December 22, such a gift would be a very timely one.

In a release announcing the news, Blackhawk Network head of Global Commerce Brett Narlinger stated “Perfect for sports betting enthusiasts and gift card lovers alike, the Game On card pairs a fun, digital way to fund sports bets with the convenience of a gift card.”

“People we’ve surveyed who have placed sports bets are clamoring for a payment option that provides increased control of spending and privacy, versus linking personal banking information when funding their sportsbook account. Our new Game On card helps address those concerns,” Narlinger added.

As little as $20 and as much as $400 can be loaded onto the card. The card does have an expiration date, but the funds themselves do not expire. As per the card’s website, if there are still any unused funds on the card when it reaches its expiry date, bettors can have a replacement card with the remaining balance on it mailed to them for free.

One thing to note is that Visa credit and debit cards cannot be used to purchase Game On cards, but other payment methods accepted at participating retailers can be used. Also, to enable the card for use, there is an activation fee of $3.95 to $5.95 to be paid upon purchase.

While the Game On card is currently only available for use in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, it appears that big plans are in store for it. Tucked away in the news release was the mention that it will be available in more states upon approval. So those in states that already offer legal online sports betting or are set to in the near future can potentially look forward to having this option to fund their betting accounts.
